I've always loved illustrated novels.  Back when I started reading they didn't really have graphic novels.  Maybe a few extra long comic books but nothing called a graphic novel.  There were some illustrated novels however.  One of my favorite was "Under the Green Star" by Lin Carter.  The illustrations weren't all that great but the story was awesome.  People flying around on dragonflies, fighting giant spiders to rescue a beautiful princess.  A kids wildest dream come true.  What young impressional teenager wouldn't simply love such a scenario.    After retiring form the Navy I started reading science fiction/ fantasy again.  About 10 years
